ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE TAD CONFERENCE 2007:

We are pleased to have a well-known and respected interpreter to give a presentation during our TAD conference. Helene Cohen-Gilbert, daughter of Deaf parents, will present on USING VRS EFFECTIVELY, Friday, June 22, 2007, at the Arlington Hilton, during the TAD Conference, June 21 – 23, 2007.

Here is some background information about Helene:

Helene Cohen-Gilbert grew up in Chicago and is currently an interpreter with Sorenson VRS.

She has been an independent contractor and community interpreter, an interpreter educator, a coordinator of an Interpreter Preparation Program, as well as, having over 25 years of experience in the interpreting profession.

Helene has done so many things, including, but not limited to, writing articles, developing curricula, and offering workshops for seasoned practitioners and students in interpreting programs.

Helene continues to be fascinated and challenged by Deaf Culture, the interpreting process, and cross-cultural issues in the interpreting profession.

She possesses both national and statewide interpreter certifications, including court certification.

She studied at the University of Arizona in Psychology, Linguistics, and Anthropology.
