Job Opening for Interpreter for the Deaf

School: Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District

School Setting: Public School
Communication Modality: ASL/English
Employment Schedule : Full Time

Location : Houston, Texas

Note: Location is relative to the nearest major metropolitan area.

Job Description

Interpret/transliterate information in a classroom setting according to the
specifications on each students’ Individualized Education Program. Assist
with in class support (in mainstream or resource classroom) as necessary to
meet individual student’s needs. Work professionally and ethically with all
students and staff.

Requirements
Required Degree: High School
Certification: Required – BEI or RID

Required skills include but are not limited to the following: certification
of sign language skills, dedication, positive attitude, flexibility,
willingness to assist in many different situations, eagerness to attend and
apply professional development workshops, ability to work closely and
collaboratively with other professionals in the field, and other standards
of professionalism. We will honor interpreter certification from other
states with the stipulation that Texas or RID certification is acquired
within one year.
